   Companion Disk

To Start the menu, from A: promt type MENU, hit ENTTER.

Just few notes . I put this together with the idea
that it would be used in conjuction with a Windows 98 EBD
(also known as ,Emergency Boot Disk, or just Boot Disk).
Not meant as a replacement to it. Some of the executables
are not on this disk they are meant to be supplied by
   the 98EBD (fdisk,format,chkdsk,scandisk,extract,debug)
or from the hard drive (scanreg).

Scan Registry (98) will be looked for in the PATH,
and in \windows\command folder, if not found will give
message. Try Booting from hard drive.(see below)

Registry Information. It needs to be able to find Windows
path from msdos.sys, one of the boot files. You need to
boot from hard drive where windows is installed.
(see below) Also see the Diag.txt for more.

Booting fromm hard drive. When booting Hold CTRL key during
boot, then choose Command Prompt Only.
OR from windows, start, shutdown, restart in ms-dos mode,
   if the option is available.

Load floppy to ramdrive. There are a couple different
options depending on wether or not you are using a 98EBD.
If you are the first time you will be asked to reconfigure
the ramdrive. If no ramdrive is detected you have the
   option loading an alternate.

Mouse driver is for a standard mouse type ,(not usb).
Some of the programs have mouse support, like the file
   manager, partition manager, delpart, syschk.

SYSCHK is a some what older program and does not
properly report the size and free space of large hard drives.

Partition Resizer (Zelps) I set it to run specificly from
the floppy instead of ramdrive. It creates a log
or repair file incase there is trouble, which would get lost
on reboot, if it was run from ram. Also see the documents.

Partition Manager (Ranish) and File Manager (Volkov Commander)
are both works in progress. Some of the features do not work,
but otherwise they seem to be good. The File Manager has
support for long files names when run from Windows or on this
disk it is run by default with DOSLFN, a long file name driver.
The File Manager also works with zip and cab files.

DOSLFN a long file name driver While not having a seperate
place on the menu to start it, it runs with the File Manager,
zip and unzip, and with ldir, lren and lmd (long name equivilent
   of dir,ren, and md).

ZIP and UNZIP batch programs running DOSLFN and PKware's PKZIP
and Info zip unzip32, for full "long file name" support in DOS.

LCOPY is a stand alone command line program for copying files,
with long file names, is also being used by other batch program.
Odi had other long file name tools like the l's above, but
they take up more space for a cramped floppy.

DRMENU is the menu system, has a collection of files.

   XMSDSK an alternative to Ramdrive.

Killdisk erases a drive, leaving nothing to recover.

Nukepart is a debug scipt run from a batch to clear the MBR
and partitions from the first physical drive, may want to
disconnect the others and have just the one primary master.

And various other files to be used one way or another.
For more details see the included READING folder, which does
not get copied to the floppy. Saves space for other files.
      THE END
